Affirming myself can have a big positive impact on my mindset. Thinking positively also has a positive impact on my mindset.
Positive affirmations can boost your mood and improve your outlook. Studies show that you can improve your thoughts and your feelings by using affirmations. They can help you work towards positive goals.
This post is a must-read for anyone who wants to know how to use affirmations, plus I’m sharing a daily affirmations list that will help you maintain a positive state of mind when times are tough.
What Exactly Are Affirmations?
What are they? Affirmations are positive reminders or statements that can be used to encourage and motivate yourself or others. Often it’s a lot easier to affirm others than it is ourselves, but we need to remember to encourage ourselves as well.
If you’re telling yourself a lie, affirmations aren’t going to change that. To become wealthy you need to believe that you are wealthy, so you have to change your thoughts.
Research has shown that when we tell ourselves “I’m a good person” when we’re not sure, it feels even more uncomfortable than when we think “I’m not a good person.” However, we should also try to say positive things to ourselves, like “I’m a lovable person,” and we should try to encourage ourselves more.
I prefer a different approach to self-affirmation. That approach is to remind myself of all that I have achieved, am achieving, and will achieve. According to Lisa Legault, assistant professor of psychology at Clarkson University, “Self-affirmation is the process of reminding yourself of the values and interests ‘that constitute your true or core self’ […] It’s taking stock of who you are and what you care about.” (Source) This approach encourages you to think positively about the important things in your life.
Rather than trying to convince yourself that you’re beautiful when you don’t feel that way, self-affirmation encourages you to think positively about the important things in your life, like your family, career, or hobbies.
How to Use Affirmations
What do you think? Does this affirmation ring true to you? You can also write your own affirmations if they sound more natural to you. Just try to use a positive and upbeat tone that makes you feel good. The purpose of your affirmations is not to convince yourself of something; instead, you’re using positive statements to help yourself grow in confidence, creativity, motivation, and happiness.
The most important thing is to find affirmations that resonate with you. I’ll admit that there are plenty of affirmations out there that are just too woo-woo for me. Some people toss words like “manifest” and “abundance” into their affirmations, but these words don’t resonate with me. Q: Possible bug or oversight when deleting a tag synonym?
Affirmations have a powerful effect on your life. Choose some affirmations that resonate with you. Then, decide if you’ll say them aloud, write them down, or recite them in your head.
If you want to live your best life, start by making sure you’re moving toward your dreams. When it comes to affirmations, there’s no need to go through a running list every day, just choose a few that really speak to you and encourage you to keep moving forward.
